The madness started on Sunday, 7th April 2008 when we - Harvey, Dada Pari, Adu, Bee Chin and I - arrived at
the National Zoo at about 8.45am. Nobody was there when we arrived so Dada
called Danny aka the mastermind behind this trip. Not five seconds later, he
arrived in his orange Kancil. Then we had to wait in front of the entrance
because the ticket counter only opened at 9am. So we loitered for a bit while
waiting for the rest to arrive and when the others did, Rou Hui aka our
resident chef distributed egg and veggie sandwiches to all so that he won't
need to lug around the huge tupperware. Hello, the sandwiches, damn powweerrrr!
I want to marry that guy because he can cook! Haha.

I think this was when we were waiting for the line of people at the ticket counter to subside. I was talking to Adu I think and Bee Chin was doing God - knows - what. (L-R) Helen and Rou Hui were enjoying the sandwiches. Joey's the girl in white, walking towards Pei See, the one in black, who is sitting down. Danny's the one in mud green (?!) Dada's stoning (Haha) and Harvey...was being Harvey. =)
At about 9+am, we finally got our tickets thanks to Pei See so we went in after taking a picture in front of the entrance (like la tak pernah pergi zoo before..Haha)Then we went for a quick tour around the zoo.

In the tram, waiting for it to fill up so we can go and see aniiimmaaaallllssss! Dada is flanked by Adu and Reeve (on his left and right respectively)Hey, how come Harvey and Rou Hui will almost always never look at the camera eh?

During the tour, we saw the tiger and someone asked the tour guide;
“Kak, is the tiger vegetarian? Because we got extra sandwiches and
we wanna give it, can?”
“Why don’t you jump
into the enclosure and see if the tiger will eat you or not. If it does, then
you’ll have the answer..”
Damn mengada Rou Hui..Haha.
After about half an
hour, the tram dropped us off at the entrance so that we can explore the zoo on
our own. So, since we all wanted to watch the Multi Animal Show, we went to see
the monkeys and the fishes first which were the closest to the Multi Animals
Show’s venue.

I don’t know why la kan but the monkeys that day looked depressed. At least one of each monkey
species there looked the other way everytime we approached their cages. Like these two monkeys above...

But these monkeys
were funny okay! When we reached their cage, everybody was laughing because if
you look closely, the monkeys were like posing for us. Cool poses some more!
Don’t play play…LOL

And then we went to
the aquarium where Rou Hui kept a running commentary on almost all the fishes
there. And he kept pressing his face on the aquariums and went, “Wooowww, so
preeeetttyyyyy!” or “You know the fish we saw outside just now? The biiigggg
onnneee? The one like jaws like that? That’s ikan patin(..insert some other fishes’ names here) la!”
Then, at 11am, we
went to the Multi Animals show and we saw seeeeaaalllssss. SO comel!

This seal is SO
adorable and reminds me of a 5 year old kid. When he clapped, it was like
super fast he looked like a kid who just got an ice cream. Haha.

Then, they also
featured a Macaw (if I’m not mistaken la)
that does gymnastics.

And this Hornbill aka Burung Papan has got to be one of the most beautiful creatures on Planet Earth.

Also, we saw this
bird, I forgot what’s it called by I call it the mata duitan bird because it’ll only approach people who has money.
Like the uncle in the picture who held out RM10 and the bird flew towards him
and took the money. Cool bird but still a mata
duitan bird. Haha.

This is the 18 year
old seal (younger than us weiii!) who
was more “polite” because when he clapped, he was more sopan. LOL.
After half an hour, the show ended and we proceeded towards the next area where we saw....

...and even tried to feed the African Cattle. The others had fun trying to
feed it and when the cattle stuck out his tongue to reach for the leaf they
were holding, they ran away as if the cattle was going to jump out of the
enclosure and chase after them..*smacksforehead*

These are the Bearded
Boars I think. Our tourist guide said that they are one of the zoo’s main
attractions because they have beards on
their snouts.

This is Wizard who
can be found in the Children’s World area. Name
jek Children’s World but it was infested with 20+ year olds and a 30+ year
old who were SO amazed by the bunnies and ponies and guinea pigs there. They took pictures of goats. Hello, GOATS! I can organise a trip to my kampung and they can take pictures of goats and cows and ducks and ants for free! LOL.

Then we went to see
the bats which were situated next to the Bird Aviary. First time I saw bats up
close okay. Excited but rather scared jugak because it was a closed area and someone was saying what if the bats suddenly
flew towards us then where can we run to?! Haha. Then we got out of there and
Danny stopped beside me and went,
“Did you hear that? The birds are singing.
Where are they ah?”
So we went on a small search and then after a while, “Laaa, you know why we can hear the birds
singing or not? Because the Birds’ Aviary’s right next to the bats’ cage la wei..” Both of us were quite blur in the morning sun after about 10 minutes spent watching the bats in a closed area. Haha.

Can you see the frog?
So cool wei camouflaged like
that..Haha. There was this one time, Bee Chin and I were trying to search for
this one species of frog in its aquarium when this random lady came up and pointed at a small lump on the ground and went, “The frog is there..” Kaw kaw
potong stim!

You see the orang utan on the left? It was abused by
Jia Leong..He bought bananas to feed to the orang
utans and the baboons but when he threw the bananas at them, two of the
bananas kinda hit the baboon and orang
utan. The orang utan didn’t react
towards the “abuse” but the baboon refused to pick up the banana Jia Leong
threw. It was sulking kot..Haha.
And then at about 2.30pm, after touring the whole zoo and snapping pictures of goats and birds and apes and eating a pack of groundnuts and a RM4 ice cream and complaining of the heat and answering the FAQ of the day, "Are you guys okay? Can still walk or not?", we stopped by
the Photo Corner before we wrapped up the trip and took this picture.

Everyone with Hobbit
the pony and the two snakes that I refused to touch even after some serious
persuading by the trainers and the guys. Tay Xin and Pei Seewere brave
enough to caress the snake…But the guys,

....they were enjoying it!
For a while, Dada was
enjoying it too;

…and then;

Ahahahahahaha!
Priceless!
Look at his visor. Flowery betul! Haha.

Rou Hui wouldn’t put
the snake down, seriously! While we were waiting for the trainers to develop
the picture we took, he put down one snake and picked up the other one and
played with it. I think if he was invited to stay at the zoo, he’d take up the
offer in an instance! Haha.
We went back to PJ around 3pm after about 6
hours of acting like primary kids about to get duit raya. Reached PJ around 3.45pm and went to Yian Tian in SS2
for a late lunch. Of course we arrived first (Harvey was so surprised we were first that he
kept asking us if he was driving too fast..) and only after about 20 minutes
later, after a few frantic calls made by Dada who were asking Danny, Jia Leong
and either Joey/Helen/Pei See(aka the other drivers) if they were lost, the
others finally showed up. Lepak – ed for
a while and we finally got a chance to really get to know each other. Dada entertained us with stories about The Phillippines
and bantered a bit with Danny in Tagalog while Harvey stoned because he was super tired after
driving us from one place to another.
It was a fun day. The
animals were cute, the people were amazing and the day was even more indescribable. =).
Many thanks to the
photographers of the day Jia Leong, Tay Xin, Bee Chin and Danny. You see,
because of them, I have more than 100 pictures of all kinds of animals now.
Haha.
